It is with great honor that I announce the APSOPRS meeting to be held in conjunction with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute International Ophthalmology Congress in Singapore from 24-25th August 2012.

With the concerted efforts of previous leaders and members of our society, the APSOPRS has achieved increasing recognition in many regional and international ophthalmic conferences. The commendable contributions from our members in these events had provided us a solid foundation to further develop our society to a higher level advancing knowledge and skills in Oculoplastic Surgery.

The theme of this biannual conjoint meeting will be “The Art and Science of Oculoplastic Surgery”. The program will be packed with educational symposia and video sessions on eyelid, orbit, aesthetics and dacryology to give an update on these topics. The workshops, targeted at different audience groups including the residents, aim to provide in-depth and focused teachings on popular treatment modalities.

This year’s APSOPRS meeting will no doubt be an excellent platform to foster close professional interaction and collaboration in training, education and research amongst members from various countries. I am pleased to inform you that the 2012 meeting will also be the inaugural APSOPRS-MEAOPS Oculoplastics Congress (AMOC). The MEAOPS (Middle East Africa Oculoplastic Society) will bring in new perspectives and ideas from another large geographic region to the meeting. We are confident that the closer collaboration between the two societies will advance our professional field and bring tangible benefits to our patients.
